Guitar Hero IV to Feature 6-piece Drum Set

Guitar Hero IV to Feature 6-piece Drum Set

Yes, we already knew that Guitar Hero IV would have all the instruments we’re used to in Rock Band, but now we’ve caught wind that the drum set will be 6 pieces — including 2 cymbals. I’m guessing that means it will be 4 drums pads + 2 cymbals + 1 kick pedal = 6 piece drum set. You see, when you talk about a real drumset, a 4 piece drum set means 1 bass drum + 1 snare + 2 toms = 4 pieces. You don’t count the cymbals… but that’s neither here nor there!

That’s cool, I know that Rock Band has excited people to want to have a more extensive drumming experience. Here’s where I’m hung up. My living room is already cluttered with a whole bunch of gaming peripherals. I don’t think I have room for TWO gaming drum sets. I proudly own and play Rock band, Guitar Hero II, and Guitar Hero III, but now a divide may be coming. Are people really going to be willing to buy new peripherals for every successive game that comes out? Guitar Hero IV even has new guitars that will “change the way you play the game.” All that means to me is that I won’t be able to use my old guitars with the new game, and I have to buy new ones.

But, if I’m being perfectly honest, despite how annoying that is, I’ll probably end up buying it anyway. ::sigh::

You think THAT’S bad… wait until you see the plan for “Keytar Hero”!! Not only will there be a keytar (with five brightly colored keys), there will be a one-fourth scale replica of Neil Peart’s 42-piece drumkit (complete with an eGong), a micro set of stage ready pyrotechnics (autographed by Great White), and the world’s first fully electric cowbell.

    I have a FEVER…
